Concrete Sealer- Water Repellent TK-290
Repellent Product – Salts, Deicing Agents, Freeze Thaw – TK 290 Series
TK-290 is the smartest choice when it comes to a penetration water repellant for concrete. It does not change the color of concrete like most other sealers do. It could also be used for any other porous surfaces such as stone and plaster. TK-290 helps protect concrete from salts, freeze-thaw cycles, deicing agents, efflorescence, scaling and surface popping which all damage the concrete surface. Available in standard VOC and a Low VOC option.
TK-290 is a low viscosity, multi-substrate, solvent-based formulation which will penetrate up to 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and chemically bond with the concrete to permanently prohibit salt, water, chloride ion, and acid rain intrusion. This protection ensures the longest life-cycle to the concrete and other porous surfaces. TK-290 does not protect from blunt force trauma.
TK-290 and TK-290 VOC Coverage Rates:
Bridge decks/ramps:
100-200 square feet per gallon
Smooth concrete:
150-250 square feet per gallon
Exposed aggregate:
100-200 square feet per gallon
Concrete block:
40-100 square feet per gallon
Burnished block:
150 square feet per gallon
- Coverage rates are provided as a guideline only. Many factors, including surface texture, porosity, and weather conditions, will determine actual coverage rates.
Preparation:
Be sure to read the safety data sheet before using this product for safe
application.
All
surfaces to be treated must be clean. Thoroughly clean surfaces to remove all
grease, oils, form oils, or other contaminants. This is best done with SCR. The
best results are obtained by applying TK-290 to dry surfaces. It is recommended
that surface temperatures be 40°F or above at the time of application to make
sure that surfaces are frost-free.
Existing Concrete
Preparation:
Remove unsound concrete and repair cracks or deteriorated areas prior to
application. Old or contaminated surfaces must be prepped with SCR to remove
oils and other contaminates.
New Concrete
Preparation:
Allow freshly poured concrete to thoroughly cure (typically 14 to 28 days)
before applying TK-290.
A test patch should always be
performed to determine proper results and coverage rates prior to application.
Mixing:
The material is ready for use and requires no mixing. It is unlawful to further
dilute with non-exempt solvents.
Application:
Apply by roller or a sprayer in an even and sufficient quantity to completely
wet out the substrate with a minimum of a 2-inch run down. The recommended
coverage rate for most concrete substrates is 125 square feet per gallon. Very
porous surfaces may require two coats.
