Solid Surface
SOLID SURFACE What is the Solid Surface? Architects, builders, and consumers continuously search for new materials to incorporate into bathroom, kitchen, lab, and other commercial designs. With new technology available, the production of Solid Surface in solid pastels and granite now can be easily produced. These products represent the latest developments in cast polymer technology. Although their appearance may duplicate natural granite and gelcoated cast polymer, Solid Surface offers both consumers and builders unique advantages. For the builder, the ease of installation at site; for the consumer, ease in maintenance and reliability in service due to high physical properties (such as stain and chemical resistance); and for both builder and consumer, the ability to design personal touches in the final appearance through onsite fabrication. Since solid surface products can be cut and shaped like wood using regular wood working tools, design features such as inlays, edge treatments (bullnose), and hidden joints can be realized with ease. Solid Surface materials are produced under vacuum thereby eliminating all trapped air. Solid Surface materials can be produced in any color or texture. Their use is unlimited; from kitchen countertop application, to entire bathroom suites, vanity tops, and shower and tub surrounds. A major appeal of solid surface is its seamless nature. Solid surface sinks can be joined to the countertop surface with no gaps, which eliminates areas for water to collect and bacteria to grow. Solid surface can, in most cases, be repaired quickly. Because the surface is solid throughout, a countertop that has undergone years of wear and tear can be refinished.
